A new science fiction thriller movie called ‘Geostorm’ is currently in production at Warner Brothers and Electric Entertainment.
The movie is being directed by Dean Devlin of ‘Independence Day’ fame. Dean is well know in the science fiction world for working on SciFi movies like ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Stargate’.
Dean was born in New York City in 1962. (source: wikipedia)
The movie is about a future where the weather is controlled by technology and satellites.
These satellites start malfunctioning and cause severe storms on earth.
The earth is devastated by severe hurricanes, deadly tornadoes and mega tsunamis.
The cast of the movie includes Gerard Butler (playing Jake) who is well-known for SciFi and Fantasy movies like ‘Gamer’ and ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’.
Well known cast members also include Katherine Winnick, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harrison and Andy Garcia.
The Geostorm trailer shows havoc and destruction at an unimaginable scale, making cinema-going a very good experience.
The trailer shows the city of Dubai being hit by building high waves and submerging its famous landmarks.
The trailer also shows hail the size of a truck hitting a bus and completely destroying it.
Similar to the movies ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ and ‘2012’, ‘Geostorm’ takes Hollywood awesomeness to new heights.
The Daily Mail says Geostorm ‘depicts an outlandish end to the world’.
The Daily Mail also says that Dean Devlin’s other movies are block busters and movies like ‘Day After Tomorrow’ and ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ have done well at the box-office.
The movie seems to target audiences in the Middle East and South Asia by showing places like Dubai and what looks like India.
The combination of mother nature at its worst plus the failure of human technology makes for a Michael Crichton (writer of Jurassic Park) like story.
The movie is set for release in October 2017.
