Steampunk Movie ‘Wild Wild West’

I saw Wild Wild West for the umpteenth time yesterday, I am still not bored by it. I find this movie to be a very good example of the steam punk genre. It has all the elements of a superhero story, a wicked and ungodly genius villain, a damsel in distress and a superhero.

Dr. Loveless is a mad genius who has created weaponry which’s advanced technology doesn’t exist in those times. He has done this by holding top scientists hostage. He has his own steam-powered city in the middle of Utah which is linked by a private train track. He also has machine guns mounted on top of a tank that can rotate at 360 degrees.
General Ulysses S. Grant is the President of the United States. He is about to inaugurate a railway line, when Dr. Loveless shows up in his eighty foot steam-powered tarantula. He destroys the president’s train and takes him hostage.
Jim West and Gordon are the good guys in this movie. They try to free the president. They learn along the way that Dr. Loveless (who is a Confederate) is trying to force the president into surrendering the United Stated, so that he can divide the country. His cronies include the British, the French etc.
If you want to know more about the genre, this movie is a good start. I would recommend it to everybody who is interested in Sci Fi and steam punk.
